Yasser Tejeda

Dominican Faculty

Yasser Tejeda is a guitarist, producer, arranger and composer born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic currently based in Brooklyn. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Yasser is currently focused on his group "Yasser Tejeda & Palotré" who have just released their new album Kijombo (2019).  Since it's release, they have performed at Bric Jazz Festival, Afro-Latino Fest and WNYC New Sounds, with support from NPR, Latino USA, Songlines Magazine (UK/US) and Billboard, among others.

    As well as being a band leader, Yasser is also a versatile session guitarist and has recorded for Latin Grammy Winner Vicente Garcia (for his latest album "Candela"), Flor de Toloache feat. Miguel, Visitante, SotoMayor, Jeremy Bosch, and New York based supergroup Freelance, among others. On the road, he has toured extensively/ internationally with Latin Grammy winner Prince Royce as well as with Deva Mahal.

   Yasser's debut album 'Mezclansa' (2009) was dubbed one of the “100 essential recordings of Dominican music” by the Nation’s Association of Art Writers (Acroarte) and his second album Kijombo (2019) has recently received six awards from Dominican Republic's inaugural Indie awards 'Premios Indie,' including Best Album.

      Yasser and his group Palotré have done lectures of Dominican culture at colleges such as : Colorado State University, NYU, Fordham University, Bronx Community college and Brown University. Yasser is currently teaching dominican guitar styles as well as writing new music to continue preserving and celebrating Dominican roots music.
